I have performed at dozens of churches and each time the audience has been different. Sometimes, I get the "I'll laught at anything" audience. I love this type of audience because they aren't afraid to pick fun at themselves or at society as a whole. Nothing is taboo. They are comfortable in their salvation knowing that laughing at "real" joke will not send them to hell.

Then, I get the "I can't believe she said that" audience. Many times, these are people in the church that believe they live in a sin-free world. They'll pout, turn their noses up, and be offended because I make a joke about being married to the Lord. It is not blasaphemous becasue I am more than comfortable telling the joke and knowing I got a one way ticket to Heaven. But no matter the audience, I always give it my all and hopefully help someone forget about their worries and laugh. Let's be honest, everything I say is usually everything you're thinking. So, aren't you glad I'm your voice!

Happy Turkey Day!

I hope everyone had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Among the ministries are World Changers, New Birth, Without Walls Church, Benny Hinn Ministries, Joyce Meyers, and Kenneth Copeland. The Senator claims how can these folks be so rich while running a non-profit. OK, first, they make other money outside of the church and second, God's children are supposed to be rich. Some may be more rich than others but as long as they are changing lives and living for God, who cares. God doesn't want his people to just be scraping by.

There are hundreds more ministers that make as much if not more than these preachers. What about them? Why are these the targets? Is it because they chose to spend their money on what they wanted instead of what was acceptable. Look, I ain't one to talk but Mr. Senator get a life and spend your efforts on more important things like healthcare, drug abuse, and education.

Well, for a twist on popular news stories be sure to tune it to my new show the Mama Peavy and Tabernacle of Sorrow Show airing November 18, 2007 at 6PM on Mama Peavy TV.

A "DOG" Gone Shame

Sugars, it's a doggone shame what that bounty hunter fella said to his son. If you haven't heard, yep, Dog the Bounty Hunger was caught red handed using the N word and making other derogatory remarks about his son's black girlfrien. Now, I am not one to talk, but that man need to be kicked in the rear. Here he has this massive following of black and white folks mind you and he has some unresolved racial issues. And they say racism doesn't exist anymore. I want to know what planet they live on. Because Earth of still full of racist ignorant superficial fake folks. But I blame the network. There ain't no way that this guy has cameras following him 24/7 and he hasn't let the N word slip. The network probably just covered it up or edited it out. They knew he was a rascist when they gave him his own show. Shoot, they probably gave him his own show because he is a racist. And decent folks can't get a break in the entertainment industry but others making millions being shady and wrong. If the network had no clue, then he is one heck of a liar. His ex-wife and stepdaughter are now speaking out about him and his racist ways. There is no way you can be that racist and not let it show publicly. I guess that is why they call it acting.

And who let Don Imus back on a show. Yep, they figured, let's let all the blacks calm down a little, you know, let it blow over, and then we'll put you back on the air. I say "boycott, don't give him no spot." I am sure his simple suspension didn't phase him any. It seems one family after another are dying. Why are so many people dying? With the way the world is going, there seems to be a warning from God telling people to get right. And doggone, I'm gonna do it. It is time to start living the good life as Kanye says. But not the way he says. Living a good life is ensuring that you are loving God and loving others. This is truly how to live the good life. I ask today, "Will you live the good life?" Live it now, so that you'll have a awesome life later.

Keep yourself and others in prayer.

Second Edition of Mama Peavy Book

I am so excited to announce that I will be releasing a second edition of my highly acclaimed book Mama Peavy says, "Women, It's OK to Marry an Ugly Man." The new book will feature three more reasons why it's OK plus more chapters on finding and keeping a man. Internet show, Mama Peavy and The Tabernacle of Sorrow Show, has been pushed back until November. I am also planning to tour Mama Peavy and Friends starting in Spring 2008 so look out for it. I have several upcoming performances this month. One is at World Changers Church International, you know, the one with Minister/Pastor Creflo Dollar. It's a single's ministry event at the church and I am taking them a mighty word.

I have pushed several book signings back until later this year. And I will have another tour beginning summer of next year. So, I hope to meet some of you then if not earlier.

In my next post, I'll give more details on the Internet Show.

Weekend Exhaustion

Hey yall, I just got back from a long exhausting weekend. Yep, me and the gang travelled to Baltimore, Maryland to perform at a church and then to Columbia, SC to do a book signing at Waldenbooks. We also did a little press which in my opinion did not create as much buzz as I had hoped for. But hey, I was on TV. Can't argue with that? Today, I want to report on some interesting topics that you can only say "WOW!" about.

OK, in Britney Spears news...if she'd married a man a little uglier then she wouldn't be having these post-divorce woes! But now she's free to join my church! I don't think Britney life is getting any worse, I just think that too many are focused on it and it is getting magnified. She just needs a tanning bed and a mocha latte and she'll be OK.

OJ Simpson is really an alien. Who else would steal his own stuff instead of calling cops? This man amazes me all the time. Just when you think it couldn't get any worse he goes out and says, I'm an old school idiot and I really want to go to jail.

Ugly is just plain ugly!

I've been getting a lot of flack from people saying "it's mean to call someone ugly" or "God created everything and everything is beautiful." They act as if the word "ugly" should be stricken from the English language. OK, would you prefer I say "feo" that's ugly in Spanish or do you want me to say "unattractive" that's a synonym for ugly. No matter how I say it, it is still plain ugly. I am not calling any specific person out! I am making a general statement. It's a little humor. And it's not offensive unless you attach the statement to someone. So, all you people that think I'm being offensive, well, so be it. I'm offensive. Call me what you want! But that's your opinion. And if you want to get biblical on me, then let's look at a verse from the Bible (NIV):

Judges 15:2"I was so sure you thoroughly hated her," he said, "that I gave her to your friend. Isn't her younger sister more attractive? Take her instead." (Here a man is calling a woman less attractive or he's saying that the older sister is uglier than the younger sister--no matter how you slice it, ugly, less attractive, not as pretty--it's still ugly in my dictionary)

Ugly is not a disease, although for some it may be, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder thus someone or something is only ugly if you think it. So either you know someone you think is ugly or you are ugly. Whatever it is, laugh a little and stop getting your panties in a bunch!

That's all I have to say on the matter. And honestly, who doesn't want to be famous is only for 15-minutes. Well, sugars, I tell yall the truth, I am about to get mine. To promote my new book, "Mama Peavy says..." I am doing a 12-weekend tour along the east coast/gulf coast. I have lined up over 18 book signings. I plan to promote the book signings by doing radio interviews, newspaper interviews, TV interview on news stations, and short performances at private venues. This is an exciting time for me. Finally, the world can hear my message and just maybe, I can find a husband.

Anyhow, I'll be traveling to Columbia, SC and Baltimore, MD next weekend. I have a guest spot on one of the local news channels and I have several radio interviews setup throughout the week.

15-minutes...shoot...I'm gonna milk it for all it's worth and try to get 45-minutes of fame. Yeah folks, I'll be in Baltimore in two weeks at Concord Baptist Church. I hear they are having an anniversary and I was asked to show my face in the place that night. I've only passed through Baltimore during my many trips to New York so this will be a new experience for me. I wonder how those people up there act. I know they better watch out because I'm coming to save souls and get some new recruits for my church. There are too many women leaving my church, not because they want to, but because I put them out. They secretly dating and getting married and not telling me. So, I had to put them out. I want them to get married but they want to continue to be members of my church. Nope, can't happen, won't happen, not gonna happen. I got to cater to those less fortunate souls...the ones that can't find a man if one walked up to them and kissed them dead in the mouth. If you are having trouble finding a man, then join my church. We meet online once or twice a month. We've had our doors closed for a while due to renovaton. But our next service will be September 28, 2007. Be sure to be there! I performed at Walking on Water Christian Church during their Single's Hallelujah Happy Hour. To say the least, I was happy alright. There was no liquor but I made do. The audience was great and the women really needed my word. So, I gave it to them, stiff, straight, with no ice. I really love going to events where people are not afraid to laugh. Today, people are so uppity and want you to censor everything. But I ain't censoring nothing. If you don't like what I have to say, then cover your ears. Butler enjoyed a family reunion in Butts County, Georgia. Who is Mary, you ask? Well, she is the one that created my character and is the voice of Mama Peavy. She'll drop in from time to time to offer her words of wisdom or whatever while I take a break.

Anyhow, I got the full scoop on the family reunion even though I was not invited. First, I heard the weather was hotter than a jalapeno~koochie! That means, really hot. Everyone gathered at Billy's house tucked in the woods. No shade was in sight and no one was allowed in the house. Wretched, I say. Glad I didn't go. And this year over 100 more folks attended than last year and I suspect that most were not part of the family. Darn reunion crashers! The festivities began around 3PM but the DJ didn't show until 5PM and the food didn't get served until 7PM. I hear that people were hot about that...so they must have been blazing hot given the 100 degree-plus weather. One positive is that no one fought...thank heavens! Even though I am sure one or two people want to clock the drunk uncle and overly drunk cousin.

Things started to get better once the sun set and bellies got full. The infamous talent show began with Mary and her dauther Danielle doing a rendition of the 90s hit "Push It" by Salt-n-Pepper. The talent show included renditions of Ray Charles' "Night Time," Tina Turner's "Proud Mary," and The Staple Sisters' "I'll take you there." All in all, it was a family reunion to remember. Now, I hope next year, I'll be there in person.

Tell me about your family reunion experiences.

Ugly Celebrity Husbands

Celebrity marriages are a dime a dozen considering that the divorce rate among celebrities far exceeds the national average of about 49%. So, why do some celebrity marriages work while others do not? The answer lies in the type of men that the women choose to date and marry. She notes that of the many failed celebrity marriages, one common attribute is present in the relationship--a handsome "pretty boy" husband. Consider Halle Berry's four year marriage to Eric Benet and the marriage of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, which also only lasted four years. Perhaps, the prettiest of the pretty boys is Brad Pitt and his notable marriage to Jennifer Anniston which went caput after five endearing years. All of these marriages were held in the highest regard, however, the women did not follow my cardinal rule and that is to marry an ugly man.

In my new book titled "Mama Peavy says, 'Women, It's OK to Marry an Ugly Man,'" I give five hilarious reasons why a woman will greatly benefit from marrying a man that is not nicknamed "pretty boy." I encourage women to have an open mind and to give men that are hard on the eyes a fair chance. I truly believe that women that marry ugly men will have longer more satisfying relationships. If you're a woman and you think this is a hard pill to swallow, then take a look at several celebrity couples that have stood the test of time. Felicity Huffman, actress on Desperate Housewives, has been married to William H. Macy for over 10 years and they are still madly in love. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have over 25 years of togetherness. Bernie Mac and his wife, Rhonda McCullough have been going strong for over 30 years.
