Celebrity marriages are a dime a dozen considering that the divorce rate among celebrities far exceeds the national average of about 49%. So, why do some celebrity marriages work while others do not? The answer lies in the type of men that the women choose to date and marry. She notes that of the many failed celebrity marriages, one common attribute is present in the relationship--a handsome "pretty boy" husband. Consider Halle Berry's four year marriage to Eric Benet and the marriage of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, which also only lasted four years. Perhaps, the prettiest of the pretty boys is Brad Pitt and his notable marriage to Jennifer Anniston which went caput after five endearing years. All of these marriages were held in the highest regard, however, the women did not follow my cardinal rule and that is to marry an ugly man.
In my new book titled "Mama Peavy says, 'Women, It's OK to Marry an Ugly Man,'" I give five hilarious reasons why a woman will greatly benefit from marrying a man that is not nicknamed "pretty boy." I encourage women to have an open mind and to give men that are hard on the eyes a fair chance. I truly believe that women that marry ugly men will have longer more satisfying relationships. If you're a woman and you think this is a hard pill to swallow, then take a look at several celebrity couples that have stood the test of time. Felicity Huffman, actress on Desperate Housewives, has been married to William H. Macy for over 10 years and they are still madly in love. Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have over 25 years of togetherness. Bernie Mac and his wife, Rhonda McCullough have been going strong for over 30 years. These celebrity husbands may not embody the term "Prince Charming" but they are princes to their wives in every sense of the word.
