Family Reunion Weekend

Hey there Lads & Gents,
I was stuck in a black suitcase in a closet this past weekend while Mary R. Butler enjoyed a family reunion in Butts County, Georgia. Who is Mary, you ask? Well, she is the one that created my character and is the voice of Mama Peavy. She'll drop in from time to time to offer her words of wisdom or whatever while I take a break.

Anyhow, I got the full scoop on the family reunion even though I was not invited. First, I heard the weather was hotter than a jalapeno~koochie! That means, really hot. Everyone gathered at Billy's house tucked in the woods. No shade was in sight and no one was allowed in the house. Wretched, I say. Glad I didn't go. And this year over 100 more folks attended than last year and I suspect that most were not part of the family. Darn reunion crashers! The festivities began around 3PM but the DJ didn't show until 5PM and the food didn't get served until 7PM. I hear that people were hot about that...so they must have been blazing hot given the 100 degree-plus weather. One positive is that no one fought...thank heavens! Even though I am sure one or two people want to clock the drunk uncle and overly drunk cousin.

Things started to get better once the sun set and bellies got full. The infamous talent show began with Mary and her dauther Danielle doing a rendition of the 90s hit "Push It" by Salt-n-Pepper. The talent show included renditions of Ray Charles' "Night Time," Tina Turner's "Proud Mary," and The Staple Sisters' "I'll take you there." All in all, it was a family reunion to remember. Now, I hope next year, I'll be there in person.

Tell me about your family reunion experiences.
